Museveni commends Sudir for swift construction of Speke Resort Convention Center

President Museveni underscored Sudhir’s commitment as a model for other development initiatives.

President Museveni said that the successful and swift completion of the Speke Resort Convention Center, coupled with its hosting of major international events, showcased Uganda’s efficiency in executing large-scale projects.

During a televised address on 25th Jan Thursday evening ahead of the National Resistance Army/Movement (NRA/M) celebrations of 38th victory anniversary, Museveni commended Ugandans for their hospitality towards the Non-Aligned Movement and G77 + China delegates.

President Museveni underscored Sudhir’s commitment as a model for other development initiatives, positioning Uganda as a destination capable of handling significant global events.

He emphasized that the conference center is evidence to Uganda’s ability to achieve significant actions, adding that it was built by Sudhir’s company using government funds.

Museveni also shared how Russian delegate including the deputy minister, had informed him that only superpowers could successfully organize such conferences.

On NRM Day Celebrations in Jinja today, the president further singled out the UPDF Engineering Brigade which built the new passenger terminal at Entebbe International Airport, and city tycoon Sudhir Ruparelia, whose company put together the construction of the world-class conference facility — the Speke Resort Convention Centre at Munyonyo in record time.

It took Sudhir’s group of companies the Ruparelia Group one year and two days to complete the facility.

On the other hand, the UPDF Engineering Brigade took over the terminal’s construction at the airport.
