Kawempe -National Unity Platform (NUP) in preparation for the forthcoming nationwide Youth elections, it has unveiled its flag bearer with caution against being corrupted.

On an event which was held on Saturday at Bwaise ii playground, Emmanuel Sserunjogi, Kawempe Division Mayor who doubles as the NUP Chairperson for Kawempe District, asked the use the positions they are vying responsibly once elected because failure to do so, they future will be doomed.
“I started Electoral politics as a councilor and upgraded upto a Division Mayor, this was not an easy task because it involved a lot of commitment and endurance. I have faced several temptations in my journey like people intending to bribe me so that I can betray the people but I have maintained my position of fighting for change, so always be strong.” remarked Sserunjogi
He pointed out that he has strong belief in the young people because a strong party stands on the foundation of the young people.
“We have hope that all our young people will win and after that NUP will sweep all other remaining positions up to Presidential level.”
Fred Nyanzi Ssentamu, the National Mobilizer for NUP, on handing over Umbrellas (Party symbol) to flag bearers, urged all those who have been given the party ticket , to use it in strengthening that party not for their personal benefits.
“You all remember that at the beginning, they had planned to cance NUP’s registration , but because the youth had been elected in accordance with the law , Court couldn’t go ahead.”

Nyanzi who is also a contender for NUP flag on the position of Kawempe South Member of Parliament, accused his opponent Roy Ssemboga who was also in the meeting of being used to sabotage party activities.
“Am moving to various parts of the country combing for votes , but it is unfortunate that there are some people looking at me as stumbling block and targeting me as their enemy.”
He emphasized that nothing is going to stop him from holding his country wide mobilization tours.
In response to the above allegations, Ssemboga said that he was surprised to see that he is labeled an enemy of the party yet he is a party member who expressed interest to contest on an Electoral position.
“The enemy of this country is a person who has failed to equip hospitals with enough drugs, denied young people a chance to go to better schools and better jobs, Roy Ssemboga is not your enemy, let us sow the seeds of love in the party because elections will end in January and for us we shall remain. We need to show an example to our colleagues in NRM.”
He thanked NUP leadership for having given young people a platform to engage in elective politics which has not been the case before.
