KAMPALA, Uganda – Kansai Plascon Uganda donated 25 million Ugandan shillings worth of paint last month to the Naguru Reception Centre, a government facility that houses and rehabilitates vulnerable children. The initiative, undertaken in partnership with the Rotary Club of Kololo, Kampala, aims to refurbish the center’s facilities.
The handover ceremony on May 28 brought together representatives from the reception center, Kansai Plascon and the Rotary Club of Kololo. Kansai Plascon Managing Director Santosh Gumte emphasized the company’s commitment to community impact.
“As Kansai Plascon, we believe that color has the power to uplift lives and restore dignity,” Gumte said. “It’s more than just paint — it’s a symbol of hope and transformation.”
The paint donation will support the renovation and painting of key areas within the center, designed to create a more welcoming and dignified environment for children and staff.
“This donation comes at a time when our facilities are in dire need of refurbishment,” said Nyamahunge Esther, a probation and welfare officer at the center. “The improved environment will not only boost the morale of the children but also support their psychological healing and reintegration.”
Charles Turyamureeba, co-founder of the Rotary Club of Kololo, highlighted the long-standing goal of supporting vulnerable populations. “This partnership with Kansai Plascon demonstrates what is possible when purpose-driven organizations come together to make a tangible difference,” he said.
Following the handover, the Kansai Plascon team visited the Interpol Headquarters in Kampala, where they were received by Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIGP) Joseph Obwona, director of Interpol. Gumte and his team inspected ongoing and completed painting work at the Interpol offices, which used Plascon products.
“We are proud to continue our collaborations with key government institutions such as the Uganda Police Force,” Gumte added. “Ensuring that their working environments are both functional and inspiring is part of our broader commitment to national development.”
These engagements mark a continuation of Kansai Plascon’s corporate social responsibility efforts, focusing on education, health, community development and institutional support.
