KAMPALA, Uganda — The Public Relations Association of Uganda (PRAU) launched its 2025 health awareness initiative Friday with a successful corporate run that encouraged professionals to adopt healthier lifestyles through physical activity.
The 5-kilometer race started at Sideline Bar and Restaurant (Lugogo Indoor Stadium), guiding participants through the scenic upper Kololo area. Joel Kagina was the first to cross the finish line, followed by Baguma Robert in second place and Edrisa Sssentonga in third. The top 10 finishers, who also included Asaba James, Lule Eriah, Kiwanuka Emmauel, Annet Nkazozi, Zziwa Joel, Barbra Ssina, and Namboozo Josephine, received accolades from African Dreamz and hampers from Movit Products.

PRAU President Irene Nakasiita highlighted the dual purpose of the event: promoting physical well-being and providing a platform for networking among public relations specialists and other corporate attendees.
“With the run, we don’t only look at it as a leisure activity, but rather a moment of promoting good health,” Nakasiita stated. “We run to beat non-communicable diseases, promote wellness for our members for a happier and productive workforce in the Profession by not only focusing on the health aspect but leveraging the networking amongst members.” She added that the run is a key part of the association’s member mobilization and coordination strategy.
Nakasiita also used the occasion to invite non-members to join PRAU, emphasizing the value of affiliation through upcoming events. She specifically mentioned the National PR Symposium scheduled for July 25, 2025, as a crucial forum for deliberating on critical issues in the PR space and advancing professional aspirations.
Beyond the competitive race, participants enjoyed engaging activities such as aerobics, mini-marathons, wellness talks, and a dedicated networking session.
The event’s success was a result of collaborations with several corporate entities, including Centenary Bank, Nile Breweries Limited, Sideline Bar and Restaurant, Affinity Media, C-Care, African Dreamz, Rwenzori Mineral Water, Uganda Red Cross Society, Movit Products, NRG Radio, and Coca Cola Beverages Uganda.
