Total malice! UNEB speaks out ‘forcing parents to pay examinations registration fees during COVID-19 lockdown

Uganda National Examination Board (UNEB) has described as malicious reports that it is forcing parents to pay examinations and registration fees during lockdown.

Ms. Jennifer Kalule, the Principal Public Relations Officer at UNEB in a statement on Sunday said online registration was halted in March following a directive by president Museveni.

“Due to lockdown announced by President Museveni, UNEB accordingly on March 19 2020 communicated to the public that registration of candidates would be put on hold until schools resume,” she said.

She said UNEB hasn’t sent out any other notice about the commencement of registration or demanding payment of examination fees from schools.

“UNEB has also learnt that there are people who are making telephone calls to parents, purporting that UNEB is now demanding examination fees payment,” she noted, adding “Whenever receives such call should ignore as it mostly likely the work of fraudsters.

She appealed to the candidate to concentrate on studying from home a guided by the Ministry of Education and Sports.
