The world of budget travel can be filled with excitement and appeal, and in our expensive world today traveling on a budget is becoming more necessary if you want to travel at all. It is important to keep costs low when traveling, especially if you are traveling solo. In comparison with other destinations in East Africa, traveling in Uganda on a Safari can be a bit costly. You have already decided to visit the Pearl of Africa and see different places but you have a tight budget, what next?

Already packaged Uganda tours and Safaris by travel agencies may seem to be a bit expensive but you should always remember you don’t have to be filthy rich to go for one or any other of a kind. With proper research you will find that you can actually travel within your budget. Traveling in Uganda is not just meant for people with a pocket full of money, it is meant for everyone!

The main requirement for a budget vacation is proper planning. Always survey and do adequate research to avail the best deals on accommodations, transport and meals. When it comes time for you to formulate a budget for travel, you should first prioritize by deciding what is most important to you and what you can cut back on.

Be practical and inquisitive.

Once you have prioritized the elements of your trip, begin researching what the best deals are. Try to gather as much information as possible about your dream destination so that you can cope in a better way in case of any emergency. If you are involved with any travel agency, find out about any budget tours that they might have available. By doing this, you can arrange your schedule and plan your trip well ahead of time.

Travel off season

Most of the travel off seasons in Uganda arrive from April to mid-June and October to Mid-December. Some travelers travel real cheap during these seasons as owing to less demand, the prices of traveling fares and accommodation will be comparatively lower.

Be your own guide and drive yourself

To cut some expenses, you can explore Uganda while driving yourself in your own car and if you have any, you can opt for an option of car rental in Uganda to get one to take you around. Self-drive travels cut a lot of expenses including those of a driver/ guide. This also helps you drive at your own pace discovering as you have freedom to move anywhere you want.

You are also the planner of your trip and from this, you can save on fuel that may come in through cancelling some journeys that you may find unnecessary. A good tip for keeping your fuel spending under control is to invest in a map of your destination.  It will keep you from getting lost and therefore wasting gas.  Being able to find your way to and from the hotel or other destinations without trouble will make your vacation less stressful and less costly.

Before driving your car, make sure you get it serviced so that it is in good condition before you leave. Something small like under-inflated tires or worn spark plugs or brake pads can affect your gas mileage and increase your fuel budget.

You can test it around with a Kampala city tour on the first day while visiting the exciting traditional, cultural and historical places and monuments in the country and see how it works.

Go for Camping

Dou you have any personal issues with camping? No, then why not take a tent? The trending way to explore Uganda by camping is taking a jeep with rooftop tent. This is easy to set up, within a minute you are done setting up your shelter through the night and in the morning, it only takes seconds to put it right back. This will not only allow you to stay within your budget limitations but it would also be an adventurous experience for you.

If you have opted for structured accommodation, go for those facilities on a low budget such as permanent tents and backpacker hostels.

Eat Local

You can decide to get lunch and dinner from local restaurants around rather than booking a full board at a hotel that might be costly some times. If you are camping, equipment include those for cooking and serving giving you freedom to prepare some of the meals yourself.

Secure that Travel Insurance

Another trick to keep your budget travel assured is not forgetting the travel insurance. In case of any mishap like losing your belongings or any medical issues, you can at least recover some expenses if you have insurance.
