UGANDA CORONAVIRUS UPDATE: Uganda confirms 43 coronavirus cases on Friday

The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country has risen to 203 after 43 people tested positive on Friday, the Ministry of Health have said.

The new cases, part of 1,838 samples that were tested today, include Ugandans, Kenyans, Tanzanians and South Sudanese who arrived via Mutukula, Busia and Elegu borders.

Further details about the positive cases are yet to be released by the health ministry.

Today’s positive cases, all made up of truck drivers bring the number of those who have tested positive to 143

This is the highest number of infections that the country has recorded in one day.

♦️Today, 15 May, 2020, 43 new COVID-19 cases confirmed from 1,838 samples of truck drivers. This brings the total number of COVID-19 cases to 20 in Uganda.
🔺Elegu: 15 Ugandans, 9 Kenyans, 4 Eritreans
🔺Mutukula: 5 Tanzanians, 1 Burundian
🔺Malaba: 5 Kenyans, 2 Ugandans, 1 Burundian
1 nationality unknown
🔸All 720 community samples have tested negative for COVID-19.
🔹Total COVID-19 recoveries: 63
🔹 Total samples tested today: 2558
