Uganda’s High Commissioner to Nigeria Nelson Ocheger meets Ethiopia Envoy

Uganda’s High Commissioner to the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the West African States, H.E. Nelson Ocheger, on Friday morning received and held discussions with the Charge d’Affaires ai of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, Ambassador Yanas Yosef Sanbe.

Ambassador Sanbe came to pay a courtesy call on the High Commissioner.

He briefed the High Commissioner on the steps being taken by the Government of Ethiopia to resolve the war in the country, the forthcoming Youth Summit to be convened in Addis Ababa, and bilateral relations between Ethiopia and Uganda.

Ambassador Sanbe retraced and hailed the historical, cultural and long standing fraternal, political relations between Ethiopia and Uganda, underpinned by common traditions and values.

He expressed satisfaction at the excellent bilateral relations between the two Heads of State and Governments, as exemplified by frequent High Levels visits, consultations and collaborations.

He appreciated Uganda’s continued support to Ethiopia in its efforts to restore peace and security.

The High Commissioner, Nelson Ocheger welcomed the Charge d’Affaires ai and thanked him for making time to call on him.

He concurred that Uganda and Ethiopia have very warm, cordial and fraternal relations rooted in history, culture, politics and economic cooperation.

He reiterated Uganda’s commitment to consolidate and further strengthen and broaden these relations.

He recalled the exchange of High Level Visit by the Heads of State, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed respectively, by Senior Government and Security Officials and by the peoples of the two countries.

The High Commissioner expressed the support of the Government of Uganda for the initiatives being taken by the Government of Ethiopia to resolve the conflict and return the country to the path of peace, Security, stability and development.

He also appealed for regional cooperation and integration of countries in the region and on the continent
