UMA to prioritize Technology and innovations in the 29th Trade Fair

Uganda Manufacturers Association (UMA) has officially announced dates for this year’s Annual Uganda International Trade Fair (UGTIF) which will be running from 3rd October to 10th October 2023 at the UMA Show grounds under a theme “Driving Manufacturing and Trade Efficiency through Digital Transformation and Innovation.”

At the launch event held at UMA offices in Lugogo, John Kayemba the Chairman of UMA called people to turn up un large numbers in this year’s trade fair because there is a lot of changes and new things which have been brought on board.

“We shall be exhibiting a number of technological innovations in the manufacturing sector. You all know that we now control production on the phone, dropped the manual accounting system and now everything we use is digital.”

He asked Ugandans to come and learn more about other forms of energy that they can use in their homes instead of relying at all times on Hydro Electricity Power. “Hydro Electricity should be left to only people in the manufacturing sector.”

“We invite businesses, entrepreneurs, and innovators from every sector to join us at the UMA 29th Uganda International Trade Fair. This event is not just a platform for showcasing products; it is a celebration of resilience, creativity, and the power of innovation. Together, we will drive manufacturing and trade efficiency through digital transformation,” Kayemba added

Dr. Ezra Muhumuza , the Executive Director of UMA urged schools to bring learners to enjoy and learn from a number of innovations which will be exhibited in this year’s trade fair that has been zoned to ease people’s movement.

Cathy Muhumuza , Secretary Superintendent Support , Science and Technological Innovation in the Office of the President, revealed that through this trade fair they learn more about the new innovations on the market as well as those that are preferred by the Manufacturers. “When we learn those that are needed mostly , we prioritize them during the funding process.” she added.

Omotesele Akinpelu, the acting Managing Director TotalEnergies Marketing Uganda mentioned that they have already embarked on a transition to provide cleaner and more renewable energy solutions that meet their customers’ needs. “We are also innovating to create more convenience through our fuel card and partnering with likeminded individuals to provide access to quicker e-payment platforms to facilitate trade,” she added.
