Another Kyambogo University finalist dies mysteriously

Another Kyambogo University finalist has in just a space of two weeks died under mysterious circumstances.

Derrick Aijuka, a finalist of Bsc. Accounting and Finance at Kyambogo University on Thursday May 28 succumbed to what’s is sofar believed to be ‘severe peptic ulcers’ few month to completing his course at the university.

Aijuka’s death comes hardly two weeks after Elizabeth Nakiyaga, a second year student pursuing the same course also died under the same circumstances.

A medical report indicates that Aijuka succumbed to severe peptic ulcers, but a section of his other colleagues believe that he may have died of food poisoning.

This has casted a lot of mystery around his death.

Kaijuka was rushed to Mbarara Referral Hospital after complaints of what was at first severe stomach pain.

The doctors, after prior assessment of the situation found that he was suffering from peptic ulcers.

He was admitted in the hospital, where he spent about two days before his death on Thursday.

Kaijuka has been described by his colleagues from both Kyambogo University and Ntare School as a very jolly, committed and sociable individual.

“He was very passionate about his studies, was humble and very down to earth. Death has robbed us of a very young and ambitious soul. We shall surely miss him,” a close confidant of Kaijuka commented on his death.

Funeral arrangements of the deceased are yet to be announced.

Kyambogo University (KYU) is a public university in Uganda. It is one of the eight public universities and degree-awarding institutions in the country.
Kyambogo University was established in 2003 by the Universities and Other Tertiary Institutions Act 2001 by merging Uganda Polytechnic Kyambogo (UPK), the Institute of Teacher Education, Kyambogo (ITEK), and the Uganda National Institute of Special Education (UNISE).

The university campus is located on Kyambogo Hill, approximately 8 kilometres (5 mi), by road, east of the central business district of Kampala, the capital city of Uganda.
