Minister Muhwezi mobilizes 150 million for construction of Girls Dormitory at Katukuru

Mbarara – Hon Jim Muhwezi, the Minister for security over the weekend led a successful fundraising campaign for construction of Girls Dormitory at St Peters SS Katukuru in Mbarara District.

At the ceremony over 150 Million Shillings was collected from Guests, Old students, well wishers and community members.

“I call upon all people in this area to always be supportive to all educational programs.”

Ritah Atukwasa , Woman Member of Mbarara City , noted that
it’s her responsibility to ensure education is given priority in this area.

“We need government to support this school at least with a new modern science laboratory because the current one is very old and can’t accommodate all the students. It was constructed by our great grand parents way back then when the population was small.”

Phillip Kakuru, a Ugandan South African based business man, the chief fundraiser donated shillings 50 million towards the cause.

“I was educated , in my part of schooling, it is that reason that am giving back to the community that raised me. This school empowered me to become who i am today , its for that reason that i call upon all my colleagues in the diaspora to always support developmental programs in Uganda.”

The Girls dormitory is expected to completed in 2024 at a cost of over 900 million shillings.
