The Supreme court of Uganda on Monday (July 25) commenced the hearing of 36 civil appeals and applications. The hearings will go up to July 28, and thereafter the Justices will start the judgment-writing process.

The Court’s Registrar, HW Harriet Ssali, said the appeals will be handled by Chief Justice Alfonse Chigamoy Owiny – Dollo, and Justices; Stella Arach-Amoko, Rubby Opio-Aweri, Faith Mwondha, Lillian Tibatemwa, Percy Tuhaise, and Mike Chibita.

In a related development, Justice Mike Chibbita on July 12 presided over a virtual pre-hearing session for 21 criminal appeals.
The pre-hearing which was attended by defence lawyers was meant to iron out preliminary issues before the start of hearing the criminal appeals.
