The innovative app aims to boost Uganda’s global tourism visibility by providing a one-stop center for information on attractions, accommodation, events, and service providers.

Kampala, Uganda- Uganda Tourism Board (UTB) has partnered with Expedia Group, a leading online travel agency, to promote destination Uganda to key markets in the UK, US, and Canada.

The “Uniquely Yours” campaign, launched on November 5, showcases Uganda’s iconic sustainable tourist experiences, including gorilla tracking, bird watching, and adventure tourism activities.

With Expedia Group’s vast network of 200 travel sites in 70 countries, 100,000 travel agents, and 168 million loyalty members worldwide, UTB aims to increase high-value international leisure travelers and visitor expenditure in Uganda.

“We’re excited to partner with Expedia to showcase Uganda’s best experiences to travelers in our core source markets,” said Lilly Ajarova, UTB CEO. “This campaign will tap into Expedia’s vast networks to boost tourism arrivals to the Pearl of Africa.”

Uganda’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs also welcomed the collaboration. “We’re happy to support the Explore Uganda campaign on Expedia, which will reach our target markets in the UK and North America,” said Ambassador John Leonard Mugerwa.

The campaign will feature on Expedia’s website, with a dedicated landing page highlighting Uganda’s attractions, including:

  • 54% of the world’s mountain gorillas
  • 11% of global bird diversity
  • 65 tribes, showcasing a rich cultural heritage

“Uniquely Yours” aligns with Uganda’s new Destination Marketing Strategy 2024/2025-2028/2029, focusing on high-value tourism and immersive experiences.

As Uganda seeks to boost its tourism industry, this partnership is expected to increase global visibility and attract travelers seeking unique African experiences.
