MUKONO– Harriet Nandugwa, a resident of Nakapinyi Mbalala, Mukono, has appealed to the government to come to intervene in a land dispute with her neighbor Brig Joseph Musanyufu, the Internal Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Internal Affairs whom she accuses of causing her sleepless nights.

Nandugwa contends that Musanyufu, his wife Hope Musanyufu and their son Darius Mugisha destroyed her chain link and perimeter fence accusing her of having erected it into the road reserve.
She also adds that this family destroyed all the mark stones with an intention to grab half of her plot.
“I reported the matter to the chairman ( Francis Ssetwalo) who took an initiative who sat us down and the issue seemed settled, but later Musanyufu’s family violently came back with a grader and brought down my banana plantation. At one point the chairperson told me to chill the matter on grounds that the people am accusing are armed with capacity to sabotage the matter.”
She added that she had decided to obey their order of halting the construction process until the matter is disposed off, but she was surprised to find her fence already vandalized within a few days from the talks.
On top of that she also allege that there was a meeting held between Chief Administrative Officer(CAO) , district engineers in Iganga regarding the same matter, but she wasn’t granted an opportunity to attend it.
“I later received a call from my workers telling me how my fence had been vandalized by Darius Mugisha who introduced himself as Musanyufu’s son.”
“Mugisha at one point approached me with five bags of cement as compensation for breaking my fence, I rejected this cement because it looked so demeaning and when I asked him what stopped him from approaching me before breaking my fence down, he just bragged and left.” Harriet Nandugwa added.
She also pointed out that wherever they meet with Musanyufu’s wife, she throws provocative statements to her, something which has greatly affected her life.
“I think they have interest in my land which I bought from my former boss Dr. Michael Kyakula without a title. I also learnt that Mr. Musanyufu went behind my back and offered Ugx 60million to my landlord who later approached me with a suggestion of refunding my money. I rejected the plan because I had started developing the said piece of land.”
On a phone call, Mr. Francis Ssetwalo, the chairperson of the area, revealed that Nandugwa’s chain link had been constructed partly in the road, but after talks , she listened and broke it, she later constructed another perimeter wall which was also partly in the road reserve, we again approached her and she accepted. But without her consent, a man who’s allegedly to have come from Musanyufu’s home unlawfully vandalized it.
When contacted on phone, Musanyufu denied all accusations levied against him and his family because the 20 years he has been in the area , he has been having a good working relationship with everybody there.
“I have constructed better roads in that area. It’s the lady who is causing chaos in the village , the Chairperson and his vice can bare me a witness.”
He added that Nandugwa has been both at the Police and Town council , but all told her that she was in wrong and this could have been the reason why she has resorted to the media as the third option.
