Uganda is set to host the 11th Africa Society of Blood Transfusion Congress

The event serves as a platform for sharing knowledge, experience and best practices

KAMPALA; Uganda is set to host the 11th Africa Society of Blood Transfusion Congress from 4th to 7th March 2024 at Speke resort Munyonyo.

The event will bring together esteemed experts and stakeholders in the field of Blood Transfusion medicine across the African continent.

The congress will run under the theme ”safe and sustainable blood transfusion services in Africa; adopting global innovations and technology, advancements in blood transfusion services.

Dorothy Kyeyune, the executive director of Uganda blood transfusion services says the scientific congress will address blood safety issues, blood adequacy issues and sustainable aspects in Uganda and Africa at large.

She says the congress has come at a time when Uganda is still collecting inadequate blood units of about 300,000 annually as compared to 450,000 required units according to the World health organization standards

We are thrilled to be hosting the Africa society for blood transfusion congress in Uganda. This presents an opportunity for our country and the broader health section’’. She adds

The 11th Africa Society of Blood Transfusion Congress -AFSBT congress is set to attract hundreds of world -Renowned experts in blood transfusion, policymakers, and key stakeholders, all of whom play a crucial roles in advancing transfusion medicine and services.

The event serves as a platform for sharing knowledge, experience and best practices, while also exploring innovative approaches and technologies to sustain blood transfusion services in Africa
