Singaporean minister pays courtesy visit to Mufti Mubaje

KAMPALA – Dr. Mohamed Maliki Bin Osman, the Singaporean 2nd Minister in charge of Foreign Affairs, Office of the Prime Minister, paid a courtesy call to His Eminence Sheikh Shaban Ramadhan Mubaje, the Mufti of Uganda, at his office in UMSC headquarters, Old Kampala on Monday morning. Dr. Mohamed, accompanied by his wife, is currently in Uganda for the 3rd South Summit happening at Speke Resort Munyonyo.

During their meeting, the Mufti and his guests engaged in brief discussions covering the historical background of Islam in both countries, climate conditions, population demographics, economic opportunities, and the exchange of vital information and ideas. Both parties expressed an interest in fostering more interactions through formal, planned visits aimed at supporting developmental programs.

Before meeting the Mufti, Dr. Mohamed Maliki’s entourage was warmly received by Hon. Hadji Abbas Ssekyanzi Muluubya, the UMSC Secretary-General, along with his deputy, Counsel Haj Muhammad Ali Aluma, who oversees Finance and Administration. Dr. Mohamed also had the opportunity for a guided tour before the substantive meeting.

Other high-ranking UMSC officials present included Hon. Kagiiko Imam Shaffi, Secretary for Social Services; Hon. Yaziidi Katureebe, Secretary for Administration and the head of Human Resources; Sheikh Juma Bakhit Cucu, Secretary for Education; and Sheikh Juma Ali Shuwuyo, Secretary in charge of Hijja & UMRA and Sheikh Abdulbarri Muhammad Kaloozi, Secretary for Zakat & Swadaq.
